Food of India
Indian food is a mosaic of regional cooking: creamy, bread-centered dishes in the north, rice and coconut in the south, fish and mustard in the east, and bold street snacks in the west. Spice blends such as garam masala, along with ginger, garlic, chilies and fresh herbs, build layered flavor, while lentils, chickpeas and vegetables make up a large part of everyday meals. Meals are often served as a thali, a platter of several dishes eaten with rice or bread, and tea and sweets are woven into daily life.
