Food of Cambodia

Khmer cuisine is gentle, fragrant, and balanced, relying on kroeung spice paste, lemongrass, galangal, fish, rice, and the prahok fermented fish paste. Freshwater fish from the Tonle Sap lake and Mekong, plus rice, noodles, and fresh herbs, appear in nearly every meal. Dishes are less spicy than Thai food, with chili usually added at the table.
