Food of Taiwan
Taiwanese food is a lively mix of Hokkien, Hakka, Indigenous and Japanese-influenced cooking, with a famous night-market culture. Rice, pork, seafood, tofu, basil and sweet potatoes feature heavily, and soy-braised flavors, pickles and crisp frying are everywhere. Small plates, noodle soups and snacks are eaten at all hours, and sweet drinks and shaved ice are favorites in the warm climate. Fruit is abundant, from pineapples to mangoes and guavas.
