Food of Haiti
Haitian food is deeply flavorful, built on African, French, Taino and Spanish influences. Epis, a green seasoning of herbs, peppers and garlic, flavors rice, beans, stews and fried pork. Meals are served with rice and beans, plantains and a tangy spicy slaw called pikliz.
